After leaving Overbrook High School, Brown completed an aviation mechanics course and worked as a mechanic�s helper. He enlisted in the Army in January 1967, and in June was sent to Vietnam and assigned to Company B of the 1st Battalion, 2nd Infantry, 1st Infantry Division. The 19-year-old private first class, a rifleman, died on July 18, 1967, during a search-and-destroy mission in thick jungle northeast of Bien Has in Hiatt lbs Province, although wounded he, he pulled three wounded comrades to safety and then charged a Vial Cong bunker before being mortally wounded. He was posthumously awarded the Silver Star. His mother said: "He wanted to serve his country and come home," Survivors include his parents
