Cropper graduated from West Philadelphia High School and worked as a bookkeeper for a clothing store before entering the Army in February 1967. He went to Vietnam that July and was assigned to Troop B of the 1st Squadron, 4th Cavalry, 1st Infantry Division. The 20-year-old specialist four, an ammunition bearer, died on Feb. 20. 1968. Survivors included his parents.
