Felton was born in England, where his parents met while his father was in the military Felton loved sports, and especially enjoyed weight lifting. He won a good citizen award from the Salvation Army two years in a row, He graduated from Bishop Neumann High School in 1962 and worked as a hardware store supply clerk before being drafted into the Army in September 1965. The 21-year-old private first class, a rifleman assigned to Company B of the 2nd Battalion, 8th Cavalry, 1st cavalry Division (Airmobile), died on May 17, 1966, two months after arriving in Vietnam. He was survived by his parents and two younger brothers.
