Jerry M. Foy

Foy, 24, was born in Philadelphia, and graduated from high school in Sylvania, GA., in 1965. "Jerry was a cheerful fun loving guy with serious aspirations and a love for his country... His first dream was to be a helicopter pilot," his sister recalled. Foy realized his dream in the army. He was assigned to troop D of the third squadron, 5th Cavalry, 8th Infantry Division. He died when his helicopter was shot down on May 27, 1971, less than a month into his second Vietnam tour. The warrant officer was survived by his wife, son, daughter, parents and sister.
