Thomas O. Harper

Harper studied accounting at North Carolina State University for two years and returned to Philadelphia to take courses at Temple University. The 1964 Overbrook High School graduate enjoyed cross-country running and listening to jazz records. He was drafted into the Army in February 1967 while at Temple, and was sent to Vietnam that July and assigned to Company A of the 3rd Battalion, 7th Infantry, 199th infantry Brigade. The private first class, a light weapons infantryman and assistant machine-gunner, died in Bien Hoa Province on Dec. 6, 1967, about two weeks before his 21st birthday. He was survived by his parents and a sister.
