Carl Henderson

Henderson left West Philadelphia High School after two years. He went to Mississippi to train as a machinist in the Job Corps and later worked for a year as a multiple drill operator for the General Electric plant at 69th Street and Elmwood Avenue. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in May 1969. The private first class, a rifleman, shipped out to Vietnam that October and was assigned to Company D of the 1st Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division. He died in Quang Narn Province on Nov. 12, 1969, at the age of 19. Survivors included his parents, a brother and a Sister.
