David Poley loved to fly. The 22-year-old chief warrant officer had survived two helicopter crashes in Vietnam before receiving fatal injuries in a third crash on March 9, 1969. Poley bad been assigned to Company B of the 101st Assault Helicopter Company, 101st Airborne Division. He was posthumously awarded the Silver Star. Poley was a 1964 graduate of Roxborough High School and had attended Maryville (Tenn) College for two years before enlisting in the Army. He was survived by his parents and a sister.
