The 18-year-old corporal attended Cardinal Dougherty High School before joining the Marine Corps in December1965. He saw combat duty with Headquarters and Service Company of the 1st Battalion, 5th Marines, 1st Marine Division, from the day he arrived in Vietnam. Scott, an infantry weapons specialist, died on Sept. 4, 1967, during fighting in Quang Nam Province. He was survived by his parents and~ two brothers.
