"He was a big, handsome kid, six-foot-two, 200 pounds. He loved cars," recalled a sister of the 1955 South Philadelphia High School graduate. Spina enlisted in the Army in the fall of 1965. The 20-year-old private first class, a rifleman, was assigned to Company C of the 2nd Battalion, 28th Infantry, 1st Infantry Division, in Vietnam. He died on Jan, 2, 1967, when the reconnaisance party for which he had volunteered came under fire. Survivors included his parents and two sisters,
