David Stevens

Stevens was having difficulty finding a job be liked after graduating from Overbrook High School in 1963, and figured if he was going to fight, ii should be for his country and not as a result of the gang violence plaguing his West Philadelphia neighborhood. The 20-year-old Marine lance corporal, a rifleman with Company E of the 2nd Battalion, 9th Marines, 3rd Marine Division, was sent to Vietnam in February 1966. He died in Da Nang, Quang Nam Province, on April 29, 1966. Survivors included his parents.
