Grugan served in the Marine Corps for six years. The corporal was a shop maintenance and tool repairman at Camp Lejeune, N.C., before being shipped to Vietnam where he was a combat engineer with Company A of the 3rd Engineer Battalion, 3rd Marine Division. Grugan, 23, died near Da Nang, Quang Nam Province on June 26, 1965.
