Guy enjoyed skating and building models. He attended John Bartram High School and spray-painted steel cylinders before enlisting in the Army in January 1969. The 18-year-old corporal was a light weapons infantryman assigned to Company A of the 2nd Battalion, 1st Infantry, 196th Infantry Brigade, but never told his family he had been in combat many times. Guy died in Vietnam on Sept. 8, 1969. He was survived by his father, two brothers, two sisters, a stepfather and two stepbrothers.
