Jones attended West Philadelphia High School before enlisting in the Army in March 1964. The 21-yearold sergeant, an armor crew-man, gunner and tank commander, was sent to Vietnam and assigned to Troop C of the 3rd Squadron, 4th Cavalry, 25th infantry Division. Jones died on Feb. 6, 1968, during the Tot ofoffensive. He was survived by his wife, mother, eight brothers and a sister.
