PA Adjutant General to Speak on Memorial Day 2024
Maj. Gen. Mark J. Schindler, the adjutant general of Pennsylvania, will deliver the Memorial Day address on May 27 at noon at the Philadelphia Vietnam Veterans Memorial at Spruce Street and Columbus Blvd.
Maj. Gen. Schindler has served as the 54th
Adjutant General of Pennsylvania since his confirmation by the PA Senate on April 26, 2023.
In this Cabinet-level position with the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, General Schindler has a combined state and federal budget of over $966 million and is responsible for the command and control of over 18,000 Army and Air National Guard members.
The Department oversees the third largest National Guard in the nation and includes; a complement of 2,500 commonwealth employees; and six state-owned Veterans homes and programs for Pennsylvania’s more than 700,000 Veterans.
Participants in the ceremony include the Hajdack-Mokan chapter of the 82nd Airborne Association, RVN Air Force Association, VVA Liberty Bell Chapter 266, City Police Dept. Firing Squad, Bugler Det. John Halligan and Piper John
Dougherty.
