“Black April” Commemoration Held April 30 at the Memorial

The Vietnamese Community of Philadelphia will be holding their annual Black April Commemoration of the fall of Saigon, nearly 50 years ago,on Saturday, April 30 from noon to 2 p.m. at the Vietnamese Heritage and Freedom Flag Monument adjacent to the Philadelphia Vietnam Veterans Memorial at Penn’s Landing.

The commemoration is being sponsored by the RVN Air Force Veterans Association PA.NJ and DE, which plans to conduct a flyoverduring the event.

The Monument was erected by the Vietnamese community to honor the joint sacrifice of Allied Forces (US and Vietnamese) during the Vietnam War.

This year marks the 47th anniversary the Fall of Saigon.  It has always been a solemn observance to honor the millions of Vietnamese and more than 58,000 members of the U.S. armed forces who died during the Vietnam War.
