Monument Ground-breaking Set for POW-MIA Day, Friday, Sept. 21

{module_announcement filter=”item” itemId=”98291″}A “ground-breaking” ceremony for a national POW/MIA monument to be built at the Philadelphia Vietnam Veterans Memorial will be held on Friday, Sept. 21 at noon.

 

The brief ceremony, which will mark national POW/MIA Day in Philadelphia, will feature the reading of the names of those still missing and a symbolic ground-breaking at the site of the monument on the south side of the Memorial at Spruce St. and Columbus Blvd.

 

Present will be Ca-Tisha Ashlock-Adams and Major Ashlock, neice and brother, respectively, of one of the missing, Carlos Ashlock.

 

The PVVM Fund Board launched a campaign to raise $126,000 for the monument more than a year ago and is half-way to its goal.The Monument is scheduled for completion in 2019.
